1st Question:
Is there a bus to take me to the wild, romantic Gastern Valley
or can I drive my own car?
The Gasterntal-Bus runs, depending on weather conditions, from mid-June
until the end of September. This
is the bus schedule. Please note that you must reserve your
seat on the bus Tel. +41 33 671 11 72. Car drivers must purchase
a ticket for CHF 10.- before they drive up. These tickets are available
at the tourist office or at a automatic machine before you drive
up.
2nd Question:
What is the Regional Pass?
The Regional Pass
is the ideal ticket for exploring the whole region by train, bus,
boat or cable-car. You can buy it for 7 or 15 days. For 3 of these
days you can travel absolutely free - any where in the Bernese Oberland.
The remaining days you can travel for half-price. The pass costs
CHF 230.- for 7 days and CHF 277.- for 15 days. It can be bought
at the Kandersteg Tourist Office or at any train station.
3rd Question:
We want to go hiking. Where can I get ideas and hiking routes?
There are several hiking proposals
on our web-site. There are even more, including the route description,
on the Kandersteg and Area Hiking Map with a scale of 1:25000. The
map costs CHF 18.50 (excluding postage) and can be ordered from
our shop. (Only sent in Switzerland)
4th Question:
Which cable-cars operate out of Kandersteg and what is their
schedule?
There is the cable car Oeschinensee, the cable car to Sunnbüel
and the cable car to Allmenalp. The
