With the car
Coming from the North you should take the motorway over Basel (A2) or Zürich (A1) to Berne. From Berne follow the motorway A6 to Thun and Spiez. 24 km further on a well-paved, main road you are in Kandersteg. Travel time: from Basel and Zürich about 2 hours, from Berne about 1 hour.

Coming from the South, use the Simplon Pass or the car train Simplon and then the car train at Goppenstein to Kandersteg.

By air
International airports in Berne, Zürich, Geneva and Basel have excellent train connections.
